Australian key art
A common issue with marketing international films in Australia is the lack of resonance Australian audiences sometimes feel with the key art, given it’s often designed for a different demographic in its native country. This was the case with Christophe Honore’s film Beloved. The client felt that the key art wasn’t quite the right fit for a local audience and tasked Carnival with the brief of creating something that bolstered the appeal of the film for an educated art-house audience, whilst referencing that the film takes place over forty-odd years ago. Carnival’s re-design used stills from the film in a creative way, to elicit a tone of intrigue and sensuality whilst also feeling like a nod to romantic classics of the past.
