A Day in Balmain

Macarons in Balmain!

We kick-started our day in Balmain at 10.30am with an excellent coffee and a brownie at Bertoni (www.bertoni.com.au). I will have to return to try the pasta dishes, oh, and for another brownie - deceptively intense - to share. Next the walk took us off to Zumbo to bag some of the famed macaron and see if all the hype is justified.

Belle Fleur Chocolates made me laugh with their creations and I would happily loiter just to smell the aroma of the chocolate in the shop. Check out the espresso pot, the hand bag and last, but not least the hamburger!

More people gathered with the walkers for the breakfast degustation at Kazbah (www.kazbah.com.au). Time Out Sydney named it best breakfast of 2009 and I'd agree it was a mighty meal.

My tip is to try the affogato, the sesame based ice cream is superb. We rolled home at about 4pm and passed out on the sofa for the rest of the day. Fab!
