In the leadup to the theatrical release of Mad Bastards, Carnival Studio art directed the CD soundtrack and tour posters for The Pigram Brothers and Alex Lloyd.
Viewed as a companion piece to the film, we developed the CD soundtrack artwork as a 6 panel Digipak with 16 page insert booklet with Dean Daley-Jones featured on the cover, baking in the hot Kimberley sun.
The music which is central to the films flow and soul is written and performed by The Pigram Brothers & Alex Lloyd with special guests including Kasey Chambers & Shane Nicholson the soundtrack is out now in all good music stores and on iTunes - don't walk, run and buy it! Its a really enjoyable listen mixing country & folk with unusual instruments including ukuele and mandolins and Alex Lloyds masterful songwriting is evident throughout the album.
Working closely with director Brendan Fletcher, Carnival sought to immerse the listener into the musicians world (the Kimberley's in northern WA). The liner notes are pieced together from scribbles & notes from over the years as the film came to life, lyrics painstakingly bashed out on a re-loved typewriter and from personal photos from around the campfires of The Kimberley's where the stories of mad bastards are told.
