Senior Retoucher & CGI
Starting out in the pre-press trade, Mike specialised in creative retouching using Photoshop, gaining industry experience at companies such as Prestige Colour, Creative Edge and Alias group. Whilst working on a number of high-end projects for the agency Cream, Mike expanded his skill set to meet the demands of an ever-evolving industry, learning 3D modelling and rendering and helping to establish a 3D department that still exists today, known as Cream Electric Art.
Mike also worked as a freelance animator and compositor on a number of music videos for artists such as Pnau, Silverchair and Delta Goodrem. These projects lead to a gig at Method Studios, where Mike created digital matte paintings and assisted the CG and compositing departments on such large-scale projects as the Academy Award-winning film Argo, The Wolverine, The Railwayman, The Sapphires, and I, Frankenstein. He also gained valuable industry experience working on Google commercials for monster VFX house Framestore LA, and on the Netflix zombie film Cargo for the Sydney agency The Gingerbread Man.
Mike’s impressive skill set has allowed him to expand into new areas of VFX such as real-time CGI, VR and virtual production using Unreal Engine.
Digital Art Director & Creative Strategist
Cass is a proverbial Swiss Army knife, her talents spanning a broad creative spectrum. Having studied a Bachelor of Design: Visual Communication, a Master of Animation at UTS and Advanced After Effects at AFTRS, Cass went onto teaching motion graphics, traditional 2D animation and illustration subjects at UTS and JMC Academy. Cass has industry experience with a number of VFX houses, including Sixty40, Fuel VFX and Perception Games. Her skills include campaign and marketing strategy, concept art, copywriting, traditional animation, motion graphics and compositing in After Effects, sound design and production, digital and traditional painting and illustration, type design, graphic design, and strategy and design for fundraising and marketing.
Digital & Motion Graphics Designer
Nick’s design career began over 20 years ago, starting in the commercial television broadcast industry, working for the on-air news department. Whilst working in the broadcast industry he was introduced to motion graphics and quickly progressed to working on 2D and 3D motion graphics, teaching himself the necessary software. With a keen interest in 3D, he became familiar with Lightwave, Houdini, Maya and Cinema 4D. Nick also has extensive experience with critical aspects of the VFX pipeline, such as 2D compositing, motion graphics and visual effects using After Effects.
With an interest in web and software UI and UX, Nick has extended his knowledge base into this area, creating interactive user experiences, working in a number of different software IDE’s and programming languages, including Flash Actionscript, Javascript, HTML, PHP, Python, Silverlight, .Net and C#.
Nick has extensive design and coding experience and is interested in combining design and code with procedural techniques as part of the creative process. He’s always had and maintains a keen interest in continuing to learn new techniques and finding interesting ways to create experiences and be inspired.
